The film opens with FBI agents raiding Connie Kaminski's home to arrest her. Her voiceover suggests she is getting ahead of herself, prompting a flashback to her past. This event marks the start of the story and sets the tone for her legal troubles.

Almost a year earlier, Connie is shown being unemployed, saving money with coupons, and dealing with her marriage to Rick, who is unsupportive and critical. They also are dealing with the emotional and financial aftermath of a miscarriage and fertility treatments. This period highlights her financial and emotional hardships.

Connie writes a complaint letter about stale Wheaties, which results in her receiving a free coupon. She and her friend JoJo learn that companies send coupons from a factory in Chihuahua, Mexico. Inspired, they hatch a plan to go there and collect more coupons.

Connie and JoJo travel to Mexico and meet Alejandro and Rosa, who agree to help them collect unused coupons. This marks the beginning of their coupon business, which they start to operate online, selling coupons to generate profit.

The women’s website, 'Savvy Super Saver', grows in popularity, but their activities attract the attention of Ken Miller, an agent monitoring coupon thefts. Ken begins to investigate the losses faced by companies due to the coupon scheme.

Their account is frozen due to suspicious activity, forcing Connie and JoJo to prove their legitimacy. They turn to hacker Tempe Tina, who instructs them on how to keep their operation low-profile and secure their money by using JoJo’s cosmetics brand as a front.

After six months, the women decide their money is safe but need to 'clean' it by spending on luxury items like sports cars, boats, and guns. Tina later assures them their money is actually clean, advising them to withdraw it gradually and reduce suspicious big purchases.

JoJo visits a fertility clinic and decides to try conceiving again using an anonymous donor, bypassing her partner Rick. Meanwhile, Connie prepares for her own pregnancy, and they sell guns to a militia, escalating their risky operations.

Ken and Simon begin interviews at grocery stores and postal workers' stations, identifying Connie and JoJo from their coupon activities and online presence. Earl, the mailman, recognizes JoJo’s videos and tries to warn her, increasing suspicion.

Authorities arrest Connie and JoJo based on gathered evidence. Connie is detained longer and faces a worse sentence, while JoJo is released on bail. They are taken to trial, with JoJo receiving prison and probation, and Connie sentenced to nearly a year of incarceration.

In her jail cell, Connie stocks up on goods and finds out she's pregnant. Rick visits her but criticizes her actions, leading Connie to declare her divorce. JoJo begins a relationship with Earl and moves to Montenegro to continue their business and avoid the law.
