Queen of the Amazons

Jean Preston resolves to find her fiancé Greg Jones, who vanished on a safari. She travels to Akbar, India with Greg’s father, Colonel Jones, and the expedition group to search for clues. At the hotel, they question the front desk staff, who pretends to know nothing and then phones a suspicious call after they leave.

The hotel clerk pretends to know nothing about Jones and quickly makes a suspicious phone call after the group departs. Jean senses something is off, suspecting a local danger or cover-up behind Greg's disappearance.

Tondra visits Jean and says her husband Moya heard of a safari that suffered a tiger attack. Jean asks Tondra to speak to Moya to confirm what he knows about Jones. After Jean greases Tondra's palm, Tondra returns with Moya, who recognizes Jones from a photo of Jean.

Moya tries to explain further, but someone fires a pistol through Jean's room window, silencing him. The shooting unsettles the locals and prompts the group to leave Akbar for Africa. The incident intensifies the danger surrounding Greg's disappearance.

They take a boat deep into the African jungle where they see abundant wildlife. Jean must convince Gary Lambert, who hates taking women on safaris, to be their guide. She proves her skill by shooting accurately, earning Lambert’s respect.

They also recruit Gabby, the safari cook, who recites the poem 'Three Fishers' to his pet monkey and tells stories of escaping his wife with belligerent gusto. The District Commissioner informs Lambert that Jones was chasing ivory poachers and wants him to do the same. Lambert agrees to lead the group.

As the rescue mission presses on, turmoil and deaths occur from an unknown saboteur among their ranks. The group grows uneasy, unsure who might be undermining their effort. The danger arises not only from poachers but from hidden enemies within the expedition.

A native man spreads rumors of white she-devils in the jungle who frighten their native guides. The team must face fear, superstition, and the possibility that human treachery is as dangerous as wildlife. These whispers add a psychological layer to their perilous journey.

A native recount explains that the women among them came from a lifeboat after a shipwreck many years earlier. This revelation adds mystery and hints at hidden origins for the expedition’s members. It also deepens mistrust and curiosity within the group.

The rescue party locates Greg Jones, bringing relief but also new complications. It is revealed that Greg has fallen for Zita, the jungle queen, reshaping his loyalties and Jean’s prospects for a safe reunion. The discovery shifts the mission’s dynamics as love and duty collide.
