Based on Kiranjit Ahluwalia's story as a Punjabi woman who moved to London after marrying Deepak Ahluwalia, the film depicts her descent into an abusive marriage. After ten years together, raising two children, she finally sets him ablaze, bravely, in a desperate act of self‑preservation.
