When Rana finally stumbles back into the house seven days after her disappearance, the whole village treats her as something other than a living girl. Her mother Dini, who has spent her life under the weight of the Primbon’s unlucky dates, is the only one who still insists Rana is her daughter, while the aunts, the doctor and the neighbours whisper that a spirit has taken over her body. Because of that belief, a cleansing ritual is organized, the whole community gathers, and even the forest is searched for a missing corpse.

During the ceremony the atmosphere turns hallucinatory: Rana seems detached, eyes distant, and the villagers claim to see fleeting shadows hovering around each person. When the ritual ends, Tari ventures into the woods and discovers a badly disfigured, lifeless body lying among the trees. She hurriedly brings the corpse back to the village, confirming the worst fear that the girl who returned was not a miracle but a corpse that had been hidden in the forest all along. The final scene plays a shaky video recorded by Rana before she vanished; she speaks directly to her mother, assuring her that the day of her birth‑date was not cursed and urging her to celebrate her birthday. The tape, together with the dead body, suggests that the Primbon’s foretelling—​that the missing would not truly return—​was, in the film’s logic, accurate.

The ending leaves the audience hovering between two possibilities. On one hand, the supernatural explanation is supported by eerie details—maggots in Rana’s mouth, the green hand that comforts Tari, and the villagers’ palpable fear—​implying that an entity masquerading as Rana haunted the family. On the other hand, the film also lets us read the tragedy as a product of hysteria: the sheer weight of superstition and the community’s readiness to label the unknown as a spirit caused everyone to see danger where there was none, and the real horror became the loss of a daughter and the shattering of a family bound by fear. Either way, the conclusion underscores how blind adherence to the Primbon’s numerology can turn grief into a nightmare, leaving the audience to decide whether the true monster was a ghost or the belief in ghosts itself.
