In the climax, Sutan discovers—through the old Widow’s tale—that the only way to silence Ayu’s vengeful spirit is to reunite her severed head with the rest of her body. Determined to protect Rara, he murders Yusuf, the ex‑orcist who has been helping them, and returns to the plantation to dig up the hidden corpse. He inters the head with the body, and for a brief moment the hauntings cease.

The respite is short‑lived. Because Ayu had bargained her soul with the devil, merely burying her pieces is not enough; her spirit reconstitutes as a full, murderous phantom. It strikes first, slaying Sutan in a brutal attack, then turns on Rara. At the last second, the plantation’s caretaker Joko and a local cleric intervene, invoking prayers that finally banish the ghoul.

Rara, shaken but alive, experiences a dream‑like conversation with her late father Willem, which convinces her to let go of the pain and anger that have bound her to the tragedy. She decides to honor both her father and her mother’s memory, arranging a joint grave for Willem, Sutan and Ayu, and begins to pay respects there regularly. The plantation settles into an uneasy peace—until the film’s final shot reveals Ayu’s hand emerging from beneath the earth, hinting that the malevolence may yet return.
