In the oppressive heat of Los Angeles in 1997, the LAPD is overwhelmed in an ongoing battle against Colombian gangsters. Lieutenant Mike Harrigan takes decisive action, arming himself and driving through the chaos to allow his comrades to rescue wounded officers.

As the Colombian gangsters arm themselves, they are suddenly attacked by an invisible enemy. The relentless assault leads to their slaughter, leaving only the gang's leader, El Scorpio, to escape shooting wildly at Harrigan and his team.

El Scorpio flees to the rooftop where he encounters a distorted figure and prepares to shoot. Harrigan, positioned nearby, shoots El Scorpio, resulting in him falling to his death from the roof.

In the room where the gangsters previously armed themselves, Danny discovers a horror: one of the gang members has been brutally murdered, hung upside down. This chilling scene sets the stage for the violence that has descended upon the city.

Ramon Vega, the Colombian leader, is violently attacked by Jamaican gangsters during a private moment. They perform a grisly voodoo ritual by hanging him upside down and cutting out his heart before being slaughtered themselves by an unseen force.

Danny finds a peculiar spear-tip embedded in an air-conditioner while investigating one of the crime scenes. His moment of discovery is abruptly cut short when he is dragged by a large figure, leading to his gruesome death.

After Danny's tragic death, Harrigan faces reprimand from his captain, who warns him about interfering with agent Peter Keyes' investigation into the escalating gang wars. Keyes hints at the complexity and danger of the situation, emphasizing Harrigan's need to stay out of his way.

Harrigan seeks information from King Willy, leader of the Jamaican gangs. Willy, who practices voodoo, cryptically warns Harrigan about a fearsome enemy from another world, foreshadowing the supernatural threat they both confront.

While traveling through a subway, Harrigan's team is ambushed by the predator. The creature selects its victims, brutally killing anyone who possesses a weapon, leading to a catastrophic loss for Harrigan's allies.

Keyes reveals to Harrigan in a high-tech command center that the predator is an alien creature with advanced hunting technology. He explains their plan to use specialized suits that can conceal body heat to capture the creature.

Keyes' tactical team enters the slaughterhouse to capture the predator, but a mistake leads to their immediate detection. The predator swiftly kills the majority of the team, demonstrating its superiority and tactical prowess.

Ignoring orders, Harrigan rushes into the chaos armed and ready to confront the predator. He successfully inflicts damage on the creature but faces grave danger as the fight escalates.

The predator attempts to set off a nuclear device, but Harrigan's quick thinking prevents the explosion. In a fierce battle, they both hang off the side of a building, showcasing their strength and cunning.

Harrigan descends into the predator's hidden spacecraft and discovers a shrine decorated with the skulls of various beings. After an intense struggle, he overpowers the predator, marking a turning point in their deadly game.

As the battle concludes, a member of the predator species offers Harrigan a flintlock pistol as a trophy, signifying respect for his skill. This act symbolizes the deepest rivalry between hunter and prey, ensuring Harrigan's place in their lore.
