Peter in Magicland

In the middle of the night, Peter and Annabelle are awakened by a strange violin melody coming from their bedroom. They follow the music and discover a beetle named Mr. Buzzworthy playing a tiny violin. He introduces himself as the fifth descendant of a long Buzzworthy line and begins to recount a sorrowful tale that will involve them.

The Night Fairy visits the beetle and reveals that he was punished by banishment to the Moon. She tells Mr. Buzzworthy that his missing leg must be recovered and that a pair of kind, brave children must undertake a dangerous journey to the Moon.

The beetle explains a centuries-old tragedy: his great-great-grandfather rested on a birch that a woodcutter cut down, taking away the beetle's sixth leg. Since then every generation has been born with only five legs. The Night Fairy later punished the woodcutter by banishing him to the Moon along with the tree, creating the Moon Man.

Moved by the beetle's plea, Peter and Annabelle volunteer to help without hesitation. They promise to protect him and to risk everything to bring back the missing leg. Their agreement marks the first real step of their journey.

The trio trains to fly, with the beetle granting the children flying licenses from three flight commission beetles. They practice precision in the air, learning to hover, swoop, and navigate wind gusts. Their growing skill marks the first real step toward the Moon.

They encounter the Weather Makers, mischievous forces that try to derail their ascent. The children and the beetle cleverly dodge gusts and tricks, keeping their path toward the Moon intact. The challenges test their courage and teamwork.

They meet Sandman, a wizard whose job is to keep children asleep into dangerous dreams. He agrees to take them to the Night Fairy's castle in a coach pulled by butterflies after hearing their plea.

At the Night Fairy's castle, a party among the Makers is underway. The Fairy reminds them of her promise and grants them the Great Bear to aid their journey, promising the Makers will help if they show true courage.

With the Great Bear in tow, they travel through the Christmas Kingdom and Easter Nest in search of food for the Bear as they press toward the Moon. The journey tests their resolve, but the companions stay focused on their mission. The Makers offer assistance when needed, signaling growing support.

They fend off hostile wolves and are propelled by a cannon to the top of a mountain where the beetle's leg rests on a tree. The ascent is perilous, but the trio presses on, driven by the prospect of restoring the beetle's full lineage. The moment feels like a turning point in their quest.

They confront the Moon Man at the summit; the Makers arrive to join the defense and they defeat him by freezing him. Peter carefully removes the leg and reattaches it to Mr. Buzzworthy, who is overjoyed to have his full set back. The victory seems earned through courage and teamwork.

As dawn breaks, the Moon Man melts away and the dream ends. They wake in their bed and their mother checks on them, noting nothing unusual. On the windowsill, a real beetle with six legs sits for a moment before flying away, leaving the siblings to wonder if they will ever fly with him again.
