Shanker, a government contractor, has spent ten years trying to get his work bills approved but remains unpaid. His daily life is defined by financial strain and bureaucratic delays. This long struggle sets the stage for the waves of political maneuvering that follow.

During a routine visit to the secretariat, Shanker loses his temper and breaks the ruling left wing party flag and mast in his hometown. The act sparks political tension and raises questions about accountability.

Morning after the incident, Satyan and his assistant Chandran discuss who vandalized the flag and blame Padmakumar and his henchmen. They begin to frame it as a rival political plot.

From Delhi, a terrorist leader orders accomplices to Kerala to deliver a costly diamond to Aseem Bhai. This thread introduces a looming threat that will intersect with the town's politics.

Nandakumar, an idealistic young man, boards a bus to Ramankotta to take his police entrance exam. The day grows tense as the terrorists also board the same bus.

The bus is hijacked by Damodaran, a mentally unstable ex KSRTC worker, and SI Thankachan intervenes to subdue him. To avoid the diamond falling into enemies hands, one of the hijackers hides it in a bike's petrol tank.

Unbeknownst to the hijackers, the bike with the hidden diamond was left by Shanker at a petrol station earlier. Nandakumar, already late for the exam, accepts a ride from Shanker and continues toward Ramankotta.

In Ramankotta, Satyan delivers a fiery speech about the flag incident, painting the rivals as responsible. Nandakumar accidentally breaks the flag mast again and is beaten by party goons, causing him to miss his exam. The incident is captured and spreads online, making him an overnight sensation.

Shanker meets Nandu and shares his painful past, including harassment by Raghavan and a fake corruption case. Nandu reveals his own rough past and his relationship with a police constable he admires. Together they discuss the possibility of contesting a by election.

Shanker proposes filing a nomination to contest the Ramankotta by election against three major parties, convincing Nandu to join. They stage a suicide drama to extract money from the parties, and secretly record Satyan visiting an astrologer and Padmakumar eating at Aseem Bhai's house.

Following the setup, the diamond's trail continues as the bike is taken toward Aseem Bhai's hideout and the Naxalite figure reappears. A crash occurs when an accelerator cable jams and the bike burns, and the diamond falls into the hands of an ex Naxalite near the town center.

Shanker uses the incident to claim threats from the parties and fuels a media frenzy. SI Thankachan arrests Chandran for burning Shanker’s bike, with the Naxalite implicating him. The by election dynamics shift as the political theater continues.

The planned Palarivattom Bridge attack is foiled as the bridge collapses due to corrupt construction. Shanker wins the by election by a huge margin and becomes MLA, while Nandakumar finally lands his dream police job. The political landscape shifts as new power begins to take hold.

The diamond is retrieved by the terrorists from the Naxalite after paying him money for dope unknowingly. Raghavan, Satyan and Chandran later embark on a pilgrimage to Sabarimala, signaling a form of personal closure.
