The action unfolds across the Netherlands during the early days of the German invasion in May 1940, centering on Amsterdam’s diamond district. The plot moves from the coast and ships off the Dutch coast to the city’s diamond warehouses and a time-locked bank vault. The period is defined by occupation fears, sudden air raids, and the emergence of a nascent resistance amid commerce and danger.
