Oblivion

In 2077, the Earth is devastated and mostly uninhabitable due to the aftermath of an alien invasion by the Scavengers (Scavs). This conflict resulted in catastrophic events, such as the destruction of the moon and subsequent earthquakes and tsunamis, leaving only a few survivors.

Tech 49, Jack Harper, is one of the last drone repairmen stationed in the ruins of the northeastern United States. He and his partner Vika live a monotonous life maintaining drones that protect energy harvesting power stations from the lingering threat of the Scavs.

Jack is haunted by recurring dreams of a mysterious woman at the Empire State Building from before the war. Curious about the past, he occasionally visits a hidden forest hideaway to escape his routine existence.

The monotony is disrupted when a signal beacon from a crashed American spacecraft leads Jack to uncover a tragedy. Despite his orders, the drones attack the ship, killing most of the crew, but Jack manages to save a woman named Julia.

Upon rescuing Julia, she reveals she was part of a NASA mission but remains secretive about her past. Realizing she resembles the woman from his dreams, Jack feels an undeniable connection as they search for the flight recorder.

While exploring the crash site, Jack and Julia are captured by Scavs, who reveal themselves to be surviving humans. Their leader, Malcolm Beech, reveals a shocking truth: the alien invasion was fabricated to mask the truth about their plight.

Malcolm Beech discloses that the drones serve an alien intelligence and are programmed to eliminate human life. He persuades Jack to reprogram a captured drone to carry out a daring plan to destroy the Tet, the alien command center.

During their return, Jack and Julia find themselves at the ruins of the Empire State Building. Julia reveals her identity as Jack's wife, resurrecting memories and causing Vika to confront Jack upon their return to Tower 49.

Witnessing the intimate moment between Jack and Julia, Vika decides she can no longer work effectively with Jack. In a surprising turn of events, Sally activates a drone to eliminate Vika, which leads to a chaotic escape.

Fleeing the drones, Jack and Julia confront Tech 52, a clone of Jack. A fierce battle ensues and the clone becomes disoriented by visions of Julia, revealing the deep connection between the clones and their past lives.

Impersonating Tech 52, Jack retrieves a medical kit to tend to Julia's injuries. The shocking revelation of the Tet's exploitation of humans inspires Jack to take action against the oppressive system, planning to reprogram a drone.

Jack and Julia devise a plan for Jack to deliver the nuclear payload to the Tet. During their flight, Jack discovers details about their intertwined past as pilots on the Odyssey mission, further fueling his determination.

Finally confronting the Tet, Jack inadvertently releases the truth contained within the sleeping capsules. Together with Beech, he sets off the nuclear bomb, bringing about the Tet's destruction at a great personal cost.

The destruction of the Tet unleashes a wave of freedom as the remaining drones are neutralized, preventing another human slaughter. The survivors can finally begin to reclaim Earth from the devastation wrought by the Scavs.

Three years later, Julia has established a new life with her daughter in the recovering wilderness. Just when things seem bleak, a familiar figure emerges from the crowd, rekindling hope amidst the ruins as Tech 52 seeks to reunite with Julia.
