Night's End (2022) Plot Summary & Ending Explained

Ken’s story concludes with a disturbing twist: the supernatural forces he sought to understand and possibly rid himself of turn out to be far more malevolent than he imagined. Throughout the film, Ken is haunted by a spirit he believes to be the ghost of Roberta Wellwood, a girl who once fell from his apartment window. His research leads him to think her mother, Yvonne Wellwood, is the real source of the haunting. However, by the end, it’s revealed that this story might be fabricated, and Yvonne’s soul may not be the true cause of Ken’s torment. Instead, the spirit haunting him is something darker—an unearthly evil known as Etsa Talakel, often depicted as a devil-like entity.

Albertson, the paranormal researcher, plays a pivotal role in this revelation. He appears to be more of an accomplice than an ally, and he seems to have deliberately welcomed or summoned the spirit into Ken’s space, perhaps to bring about a greater evil. The spirit jar Albertson sends to Ken might be a tool to attract or control this dark force, culminating in Albertson himself transforming into the host of the devilish entity.
