In 1992, Rebecca Summers, a young girl, ventures into her family's pool at night to retrieve a toy boat for her brother, Tommy, who is terminally ill. However, she is suddenly pulled underwater by a mysterious force, leading to a tragic drowning that haunts the family's history.

Fast forward to the present day, the Waller family, including Ray, Eve, and their children Izzy and Elliot, looks for a new home after Ray's retirement from baseball due to health issues. They purchase a house with a swimming pool, believing it will aid Ray's recovery process.

While Ray works on the swimming pool, he accidentally scratches his hand. Pool maintenance discovers that the pool is self-sustaining and draws water from an underground spring, raising questions about its origins and potential dangers.

Ray begins using the pool for his therapy, and his health appears to improve significantly. However, Eve starts noticing unsettling changes in Ray's behavior, worrying that the pool may be affecting him in ways they didn't anticipate.
