Nandha

The plot opens with a woman and her two children, Nandhaa and Chitra, arriving at Rameswaram, signaling a fresh start after a troubled past. Following the traumatic events, Nandhaa is sent to a borstal for murdering his father, an act he commits after witnessing his father's illicit affair and abuse toward his mother. He returns home to his deaf-mute mother and Chitra, who are still in shock from the traumatic events. They struggle to cope with the memory of the tragedy, and Nandhaa feels the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. The family dynamics remain fragile and tense.

Determined to rebuild his life, Nandhaa resolves to study in a college, but his criminal record creates heavy obstacles. He faces prejudice and difficulty securing a seat, which motivates him to seek a credible mentor figure. The pursuit marks the first clear path toward a new future.

Nandhaa meets Periyavar, a wealthy disciplinarian who runs an arts and science college and becomes a protective guardian for him. Periyavar guides Nandhaa with a firm but compassionate approach, offering him a second chance. This mentorship becomes the turning point in Nandhaa's life.

Kalyani, a Sri Lankan Tamil refugee from Jaffna, meets Nandhaa and the two fall in love as their bond grows. Periyavar supports their relationship and continues to mentor them. The romance adds emotional depth to Nandhaa's pursuit of a fresh start.

Durai, Periyavar's son-in-law, pressures Periyavar to aid an antisocial element, but Periyavar refuses outright. One of Periyavar's betraying sidekicks agrees to help Durai, setting a dangerous betrayal in motion. The tension foreshadows the forthcoming conflict.

Periyavar falls ill and is hospitalized, marking a vulnerable moment for the mentor who has guided many. Nandhaa stays by his side, deepening their bond and showing his loyalty. Durai's machinations intensify as the hospital episode unfolds.

While Periyavar is hospitalized, Durai pulls the oxygen tube and blames Nandhaa for the murder to derail his chances. Nandhaa faces renewed peril and a potential murder conviction as the power struggle escalates. The act heightens the stakes and tests his resolve.

After the incident, Nandhaa confronts Durai in the court campus, where he ends up killing Durai in what is framed as self-defense. The case proceeds with weak evidence and no eyewitnesses, ultimately leading to acquittal. The legal outcome allows him to leave the courtroom with his freedom secured.

With the verdict, Nandhaa returns home to try to rebuild. He carries the trauma of his past while seeking a fragile peace in the present. The completion of the cycle leaves him vulnerable to the emotional toll of his experiences.

Back home, his paranoid mother devises another fatal plan by poisoning a meal for him; she has prepared the poison herself. He discovers the poison but consumes the meal anyway, finding solace in his mother's care. The tragedy culminates as both die in his mother's lap, and friends arrive to discover the heartbreaking scene.
