During her time fulfilling a community service requirement, Nancy encountered Flora (Linda Lavin), an elderly woman haunted by inexplicable disturbances within her home. Intrigued by the challenge, Nancy invited Helen (Laura Wiggins), Flora’s niece, to join her in spending the night at the seemingly cursed residence. As night fell, the atmosphere grew increasingly eerie; lights flickered and burst, cabinet doors swung open as if animated, and a shadowy figure appeared, warning Nancy to cease her inquiries. The following morning, Nancy concluded that these bizarre events were the result of a calculated plot to frighten them away. With this vital information, Nancy began to piece together a larger scheme, discovering that Carson was being held captive in a secret passage beneath her very home. It became evident that Wharton and Nate were manipulating events to thwart efforts against the train line’s construction and to pressure Flora into selling her property.
