Riley [laura-bilgeri] is a high school senior who begins her first day at a new school, accompanied by her father, Chris, the school’s newest English teacher. From the very start, their arrival stirs up attention and curiosity amongst students and staff alike. During his first lesson, Chris immediately catches the eye of two key students: Tricia, played by Alexandria Deberry, a popular girl with a confident attitude, and Kyla, portrayed by Lucy Loken, a troubled yearbook photographer who becomes deeply infatuated with him.

Kyla’s fascination with her teacher grows quickly; after school, she befriends Riley and shares her background story — revealing that her mother, Jess, was unfaithful, which led to her parents’ divorce. Later that evening, Kyla dreams vividly of Chris, hinting at her obsessive feelings, and begins to develop an intense attachment.

The following day, Tricia approaches Riley, warning her about Kyla, suggesting that she has a history of seducing teachers — including a rumored affair with a history teacher the previous year. Meanwhile, Kyla’s envy intensifies when she witnesses her mother, Jess, prepping for a date with Chris. Kyla’s jealousy fuels her to sabotage their plans, resulting in Chris spending the night at her house, which temporarily puts her closer to her goal of being near him.

As tensions build, Kyla confronts Riley over her friendships and decisions, accusing her of being manipulated by Tricia to get close to Chris. Riley insists Tricia’s claims about her are false, defending her own choices. Later, Kyla, feeling betrayed and hurt, threatens Tricia, demanding she leave Riley alone, but Tricia dismisses her threats.

Kyla’s mounting emotional distress leads her to fill her locker with provocative photos of herself, revealing her vulnerabilities. She confides in Chris, claiming she is being harassed, and he promises to help uncover the truth. Their relationship begins to blur boundaries as they reconcile, and Kyla eventually admits to having slept with her history teacher, claiming he manipulated her into it.

One night, Kyla, pretending to be Tricia, menaces Chris with sexually suggestive texts from her phone, which Jess misinterprets as infidelity. Furious and hurt, Jess throws Chris out. Later, Kyla seduces him in his truck and kisses him, further escalating the tension. At Riley’s birthday party, the situation turns darker as Kyla sneaks into Chris’s office and seduces him again, leading to a sexual encounter that Riley discovers, leaving her heartbroken and running away in distress. In the aftermath, Jess confronts Chris, informed of the truth, and takes Kyla away. Chris apologizes to Riley, reassuring her that he will cut ties with Kyla and focus on rebuilding their relationship.

The tension continues when Kyla calls Tricia, revealing she has framed her, and in a moment of desperation, harms herself by breaking her fingers. When Riley and Chris arrive at the hospital, Riley confronts Kyla about the state of her relationship with her father. Kyla claims she is of legal age and that her love for Chris is genuine, asserting that their relationship is meant to be. Despite her pleas, Chris firmly states his decision to end it, leaving Kyla desperate and angry.

Determined to be with Chris, Kyla declares she will never leave him, and her obsession manifests in violence. She takes a scalpel from the hospital and leaves, setting the stage for a chilling confrontation. At school, she confronts Riley and, in a violent act, stabs her. She then storms into Chris’s classroom, holding the scalpel to his throat and professing her love, claiming that she was the manipulator all along. Despite Chris pushing her away, Kyla trips him and causes him to hit his head, rendering him unconscious.

A janitor finds Kyla feigning injury and asks her to seek help, but meanwhile, she kills him in a brutal attack. Riley, despite her injuries, manages to fight back and overpowers Kyla, who is eventually subdued. As police arrive, both Riley and Kyla are taken away in separate ambulances.

In the aftermath, Riley is preparing to leave for college, bidding farewell to her father in a quiet, poignant moment. As they part ways, an ominous figure cloaked in a hood watches from afar, hinting that the story may not be entirely over.
