Murder in New Hampshire: The Pamela Wojas Smart Story

The film opens with the murder of Gregg Smart. Two teenage boys threaten him with a knife, and when Gregg hesitates, a second teen shoots him. They flee the scene and escape in a getaway car with two more teens waiting outside.

The scene shifts to a courtroom where the prosecuting attorney argues that Pamela Smart coerced her teenage accomplices into killing her husband. The jurors are presented with the premise that Pam manipulated the boys for personal gain.

In a flashback, Gregg Smart calls Pam to tell her he has secured a job in New Hampshire and urges her to pack. Pam notices his haircut and responds with subtle disapproval, foreshadowing tensions to come.

Pam and Gregg's wedding marks a turning point in their lives as they prepare to drive off together. The ceremony solidifies their relationship before the unfolding drama of Pam's ambitions and eventual coercion.

A nightclub outing cements a bond between Pam and Billy, despite Billy's mother's disapproval. Later, Pam invites Billy to her house to discuss their relationship, and Pam reveals she is married.

On the third occasion, Billy and his friends carry out the murder of Gregg Smart at his home, following Pam's coercive orchestration.

An anonymous caller informs police that Cecelia knew about the plot, leading investigators to question her. Cecelia ultimately confesses that the murder was planned and executed with Pam's involvement.

Pamela Smart is found guilty in court and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Billy Flynn receives a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 28 years.
