American computer whiz Luke Williams encounters the elderly Lavinia Fullerton aboard a train to London. She confides that she has uncovered the true identity of a serial killer terrorising her village and intends to alert Scotland Yard. After she is slain as soon as she leaves the train, Williams commits himself to solving the murders and bringing the killer to justice.
