Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip

Mickey and Pluto arrive at a train station in Burbank, California to begin a trip toward Pomona. The conductor Pete refuses them entry, declaring that dogs are not allowed and forces them off the train. Undeterred, they begin plotting another way to get aboard.

To stay on the trip, Mickey smuggles Pluto into a suitcase and hides him from view. They manage to slip the suitcase into the caboose just as the train pulls away. Pluto is concealed but eager to join the journey.

Pete collects tickets and becomes suspicious as Pluto's bark echoes from the suitcase. He tucks the suitcase into an overhead baggage net and begins to probe for the hidden dog. His suspicions set off a tense chase through the cars.

Pete pretends to be a cat owner to expose the supposed canine troublemaker, dramatically meowing at the luggage. Pluto leaps out barking, revealing the ruse and blowing their cover. Mickey and Pluto scramble to hide again as Pete closes in.

Mickey and Pluto hide in a sleeping car to escape the chase. Pete intrudes on a female passenger in the car and then finds a bed with the duo hidden under blankets, pretending to be babies. Darkness from a passing tunnel allows them to slip away and avoid capture.

The two disguise themselves as the conductor by hiding in Pete's coat and hat, and Mickey speaks in a deep fake voice to misdirect Pete. Pete accidentally stirs up the car by following the false directions and disturbs another passenger. The chase resumes as Pete grows more determined to corner them.

Mickey dons an Indian chief disguise with Pluto in a papoose, hoping to slip by unseen. Pete quickly sees through the trick after Pluto bites his hand. The ruse fails, forcing them to improvise again.

Near an open window, Pluto is caught by a passing mail hook and pulled briefly outside the moving train. Mickey dashes after him along the exterior to recover him. He succeeds in grabbing Pluto back just before disaster.

Enraged, Pete orders the pair to stay out and starts tossing their luggage after them. The luggage is flung away as they fall to the ground from the mail hook incident. The chase continues toward the station at Pomona.

Mickey looks up and sees the Pomona station sign, realizing they have reached their destination. Relief and triumph mix as the pursuit ends and they plant a celebratory moment. They shake hands in a quiet, victorious close to the chaotic ride.

Back on solid ground, they step off the train into Pomona and exchange a knowing glance. They celebrate with a quick handshake, marking the end of their vacation misadventure.

Final moment shows Mickey and Pluto together, ready for whatever lighthearted mischief comes next. Their friendship remains steady after the ride, and the adventure ends on a playful note.
