Mothman

During a late-night prank beside the river by the old mill, Jamie drowns. The other teens cover up the accident by claiming he hit his head jumping into the water. The tragedy haunts the group as years pass and secrets fester.

Katherine Grant goes back to Point Pleasant to cover the tenth Mothman Festival for Washington Weekly. The assignment forces her to confront the town’s legends and the memories she left behind. She reconnects with familiar places and people from her past.

Katherine reunites with ex-boyfriend Derek Carpenter and the rest of the group who were involved in Jamie's death. Old tensions resurface as they confront the consequences of their prank. The gathering hints at a fragile peace that could be shattered by what’s coming.

Jared announces he’s leaving town and retreats to his RV. His absence unsettles the group and foreshadows danger to come. The quiet departure contrasts with the rising fear around the festival.

Late that night, the Mothman kills Jared in his RV. The brutal murder confirms that the monster is real and actively hunting the town’s residents. The group realizes their past is connected to this new terror.

The next morning, Katherine and Derek go to Jared's RV to check on him but find nothing. They search for clues about his disappearance and feel the net tightening around them. Fear grows as more people start to die.

At the Mothman Festival, Katherine meets Frank Waverly, a blind man who warns that the Mothman will strike again. He speaks of Point Pleasant's dark history and how legends can become prophecies. The warning sets a grim tone for the night's events.

In a moment of despair over Jamie's death, Richard nearly ends his life but changes his mind at the last minute. The Mothman enters through a mirror shortly after and destroys him, illustrating how the creature exploits reflections. The bar scene intensifies the sense of inescapable doom.

Later that night, the Mothman murders Sally in her car. The assault in a private space makes the terror feel personal and inescapable. The town’s fear intensifies as more victims fall.

The next day, Frank tells the backstory of Cornstalk and the evil spirit. The dying spirit can be summoned into the world only through reflective surfaces, which explains the Mothman’s vulnerability. The tale links Point Pleasant’s history to the present terror.

Katherine is attacked by the Mothman as it emerges from a television screen. Derek wards off the creature, buying her time to escape. Frank reveals he blinded himself after he and two friends accidentally killed the mayor’s son in a drunk-driving crash.

Casey finds Jared's remains at his RV, reigniting the sense of horror. The Mothman attacks Casey shortly after, forcing him to flee and call Derek for help. The danger intensifies as friends become targets.

Frank provides Katherine with a bone-like object to perform a banishing ritual. They head to the old mill near the incinerator to perform it, hoping to banish the creature. Instead, the ritual appears to summon the Mothman, turning their plan into a perilous trap.

During the festival climax, the Mothman roams the grounds as chaos erupts around Frank's plan. Frank is killed, and Casey rams the creature with his car but is killed in turn. Katherine fires her gun and an explosion appears to destroy the Mothman, yet the beast survives as Derek is carried off by the creature and then dropped.

The next day, Katherine visits a wounded Derek in the hospital. Her eyes glow red and black moths spill from her, implying the Mothman has possessed her. The final image hints that the terror will persist, with Katherine's red eyes lingering as the moths disappear.
