Death of a Ghost Hunter

Paranormal investigator Carter Simms is offered $5,000 to spend a weekend in the Masterson house to investigate alleged hauntings. The owner hires videographer Colin Green and journalist Yvette Sandoval to document the event. They set up equipment and begin a systematic search for evidence of ghosts.

Mary, a young member of the Mastersons' church, claims she was sent by the house owner to assist. She says she is there to protect the reputations of the Mastersons, who are respected church members. The team accepts her presence as they continue the search.

While the team checks equipment, a chair in the room slides without anyone touching it. The movement is captured on camera, leaving little room for natural explanation. The moment reinforces the credibility of the paranormal activity the crew is investigating.

The recording gear captures a gunshot and a series of mysterious voices. The voices seem to reference past events tied to the house, deepening the mystery. The team debates whether they are hearing actual threats or residual echoes from previous occupants.

A flashback reveals Mary is the child saved from the drowning mother, later adopted by the first officer to arrive at the scene. She explains that the Mastersons imprisoned, raped, and tortured her mother, leading to Mary's birth. The birth triggers Mrs. Masterson to kill her own family and Mary's mother.

In the final moments, Carter looks into an infrared camera and realizes she has joined the ranks of the ghosts haunting the Masterson house. She is unable to leave, sharing the same fate as the other spirits. The ending suggests the haunting will endure beyond the film’s end.
