On Earth, Captain Natalie Artemis leads her United Nations security unit into the desert on a mission to find a lost battalion. The team uncovers ancient symbols that hint at the existence of a portal to another world.

A raging storm triggers the ancient symbols, opening a portal that transports Artemis and her team to the new world. They find themselves in a desolate landscape marked by the remnants of the missing soldiers.

As they venture deeper into the desert, the squad faces terrifying discoveries, including massive skeletons of lost creatures. In a sudden attack, the savage Diablos emerges, killing two of their members despite the hunter’s warning.

The remaining survivors seek refuge in a cave, only to find themselves besieged by terrifying Nerscyllas during the night. After suffering from their venom, Artemis wakes up to a horrifying scene of her comrades turned into victims.

Utilizing her quick thinking, Artemis ignites a flare to escape the dark lair of the Nerscyllas. Emerging into the sunlight, she unexpectedly meets the hunter, which starts a cautious alliance.

Artemis and the hunter realize they must work together to survive in this perilous world. As they uncover the purpose behind the Sky Tower, they understand that defeating the Diablos is vital for their survival.

The hunter shares his combat skills with Artemis, and together they devise a plan to trap the Diablos using its venom against it. Their effort ultimately leads to a harsh victory, costing the hunter dearly.

In a dramatic turn of events, the Admiral appears to assist Artemis and the injured hunter against the fearsome Rathalos. As tensions rise, the Admiral reveals critical secrets about the Sky Tower and its implications for Earth.

During the fierce battle at the Sky Tower, Artemis faces a vital choice: return home or stay behind. Ultimately, she decides to confront the threats together with the hunter rather than abandon their mission.

As the battle concludes, the threat of monstrous invaders looms larger, prompting Artemis to shift her focus towards dismantling the Sky Tower. The urgency escalates as new dangers, including Gore Magala, emerge.

In a whimsical twist during the mid-credits scene, the Admiral's quirky Palico arrives to aid in the upcoming conflict against Gore Magala. An ominous cloaked figure watches from above, hinting at even greater challenges.
