In Vaikuntha, Narsayya Gundu Sudarshan (Narada Muni) sows a rift between Vishnu and Lakshmi over the superiority of men and women, a clash that echoes into the mortal world and sets a thematic stage for power, pride, and partnership.

From there, the narrative shifts to Earth and centers on Balaji Rajendra Prasad, a bank employee who shares a life with his caring wife Jhansi Aamani and their two children. The atmosphere at home is tense: Jhansi is overwhelmed by the household responsibilities, while Balaji, freshly promoted to head cashier, dismisses her efforts and undermines her contributions. This fracture between them makes Lakshmi—the divine symbol of prosperity and fortune—upset with Balaji’s growing arrogance, hinting at a deeper imbalance in their domestic world.

Balaji’s celebration of his promotion quickly soured when a wily Bank Manager Tanikella Bharani falsely accuses him of stealing ₹1,00,000, leading to Balaji’s suspension. The blow devastates him, and he finds it hard to secure a new job, his reputation tarnished and his ego bruised. In the meantime, Jhansi makes a bold decision: she chooses to work despite Balaji’s initial reluctance. She enters Annapurna Foods, where her former classmate, Gopala Krishna Amanchi Venkata Subrahmanyam, serves as managing director. Jhansi’s keen ideas and professional demeanor win over the board, and she is hired as vice president, with a monthly salary of ₹10,000—though she privately tells Balaji that it’s ₹3,000 to spare his pride and not threaten his sense of her role.

Balaji challenges Jhansi to prove that running a household is simple, but he quickly discovers just how demanding it is. He struggles with managing two children, cooking, and the day-to-day chores that fall to him in his new reality. A telephone connection installed at their home for Jhansi’s job becomes a source of constant distraction, as neighbors frequently misuse it, pulling Balaji away from his responsibilities and prompting Jhansi to call him out on his neglect.

On Krishnashtami, the family is invited to a farmhouse gathering hosted by Gopala Krishna. The occasion pushes Balaji to the brink, and he accuses Jhansi of deliberately undermining him. The tension reaches a boiling point when Jhansi refuses to pay the television installment, resulting in the service being disconnected and deepening the rift between them. Yet Jhansi’s professional success continues to shine; she earns a substantial bonus for boosting sales, and she also borrows—no, lends—a substantial amount to Balaji: ₹1,00,000 to deposit in the bank, a gesture meant to stabilize their finances but one that tests Balaji’s pride and willingness to trust her.

Balaji’s pride proves to be a stubborn obstacle, and he quits his job rather than accept assistance that he perceives as a blow to his masculinity. The couple’s arguments escalate, and their children, worried and confused by the constant quarrels, run away from home. In the midst of the turmoil, Balaji uncovers the bank manager’s deceitful scheme and, with the support of Gopala Krishna, Jhansi takes decisive action—calling the bank chairperson and coordinating a plan to right the wrong. The couple’s responsibilities blur as they realize their children are missing and place themselves in harm’s way to rescue them.

The antagonist’s plan is thwarted: the manager is apprehended, and Balaji returns to his job, recognizing Jhansi’s strength and steadfast support. The resolution brings a restored balance to the family and a revitalized mutual respect between husband and wife. In the film’s closing arc, the divine reconciliation—Vishnu and Lakshmi mending their rift in Vaikuntha—echoes the central message: harmony at home comes from trust, collaboration, and shared dignity.
