In the meantime, Jhansi makes a bold decision: she chooses to work despite Balaji’s initial reluctance. She enters Annapurna Foods, where her former classmate, Gopala Krishna Amanchi Venkata Subrahmanyam, serves as managing director. Jhansi’s keen ideas and professional demeanor win over the board, and she is hired as vice president, with a monthly salary of ₹10,000—though she privately tells Balaji that it’s ₹3,000 to spare his pride and not threaten his sense of her role.
