Priya Malhotra (Kareena Kapoor Khan) is an orphan who hopes to build a real family and keeps a diary detailing the man she longs for—someone who does not drink, smoke, or lie. She stays hopeful but skeptical when her friend Honey’s aunt, a card reader, Sunita Rao Kirron Kher, predicts that she will travel to a foreign land and discover the love of her life within seven days. Her luck seems to shift when she is selected to participate in a Youth Festival in Bangkok, a trip that sets everything in motion.

That’s where Amit enters the scene. He is the exact opposite of Priya’s ideal partner: he smokes, drinks, and lies. In a chaotic moment, he is chased by security and bursts into Priya’s hostel room, where he lays eyes on her and immediately falls in love. He snatches her diary and escapes, then starts to pretend to be the very man Priya has always dreamed of, and the two begin a relationship. Soon Priya notices her diary in his room and realizes he used it to masquerade as her dream man. Heartbroken, she ends the relationship and leaves the country for Delhi to forget her past.

After she reaches the airport, Amit also turns up and argues that destiny wants them together. Priya remains doubtful, challenging him to prove it by reuniting their paths. To test the claim, she has Amit write his name and phone number on a note and uses that same note to buy a numerology book, into which she writes her own name and number, then sells the book on the second-hand market. If those items cross paths again, it would mean their bond is more than chance.

Three years later, Amit is engaged to Sofiya Aarti Chabria, while Priya is engaged to Jatin. Yet, a week before their weddings, both of them find themselves back in Delhi, drawn toward each other once more as they confront the possibility that their destinies are inescapably linked and perhaps fated to collide again.
