Mermaid Got Married

In the opening scene, a young Chi falls overboard and cannot swim. A mermaid rescues him and revives him with a magical pearl, then flees as people approach. Chi wakes on the shore believing he was simply washed up, not realizing the pearl now lies inside him.

Years later Chi has grown into a handsome teacher and lands a new job at a local high school. His youth and good looks draw students and colleagues, while Kiki flirts with him and incites jealousy in her boyfriend Kenji.

On a dock field trip Chi is shoved into the water, sinks, and loses consciousness. An orange-tailed mermaid rescues him and revives him with the pearl, but in the chaos he swallows it and wakes thinking he was carried ashore. She flees when people approach.

The mermaid travels to Chi's school and passes as a human named Siu-may. She can walk on legs but must bathe regularly to recharge her energy, which forces her to hide the true nature of her body among the students.

Miss Yuen glimpses Siu-may's tail in the girls' bathroom and faints, exposing the secret. Kenji learns of the mermaid and promises to help keep her hidden, while Miss Yuen becomes obsessed with catching the so-called big fish and recruits others to her hunt.

Chi and Siu-may grow close as they spend time together. Chi discovers he can swim again thanks to the pearl, and they practice in the school pool with Chi blindfolded as Siu-may claims she has no bathing suit.

Siu-may decides the best way to regain her pearl is to kiss him. They go on a dinner date and eat clams, but she forgets to summon the pearl during the moment, leaving the plan incomplete.

On Chi's birthday Chi confesses his feelings, and Siu-may reveals that she cannot stay because she is a fish. She stands in the rain and transforms, prompting Miss Yuen and colleagues to rush in and capture her, triggering a dramatic confrontation.

Chi, Kenji and Kiki mount a rescue to free Siu-may from the principal's swimming pool. They succeed and return to the docks the next morning, where Siu-may has the pearl and vows to return home. Chi and Siu-may declare their love and plan to wait for each other.

Siu-may leaps into the sea, transforms back into her mermaid form, and swims away, leaving Chi to watch and hold onto the hope of a future reunion.

Miss Yuen and the adults continue the chase, and Chi encounters a bridesmaid at a wedding who looks identical to Siu-may. The principal sprays the bridesmaid with a hose to force a transformation, but she does not change, leaving everyone puzzled by the resemblance.

The would-be double is finally revealed when Chi invites the bridesmaid to eat clams, and she confirms that she is Siu-may. The couple shares a warm embrace while Kenji and Kiki watch, hinting at a hopeful reunion.
