Future societies are divided into two super‑states: the bleak, totalitarian “Hemisphere,” where all media are banned and a secret police (the CKS) enforces fear, and the sprawling “Megaville,” which elects a president yet is riddled with corruption. Megaville’s media freedom fuels moral decay, while travel between the states is heavily restricted.
