The next morning, two FBI agents arrive at the cabin, claiming Mikhail kept evidence against the Mafia and wants to turn it over, but asking Alain to pose as Mikhail to access a safe deposit back in Nice. In truth, they intend to destroy the evidence and implicate the FBI in collusion. Alain deduces the ruse and prepares to resist.

Alain suspects FBI kill Mikhail; refusal and confrontation

Realizing the FBI killed Mikhail, Alain refuses to cooperate. After a fight, he handcuffs the agents and teams with Alex to confront Kirov, the Mafia's leader. They set out to expose the truth and protect themselves from further danger.

The banya confrontation and Kirov's death

At a banya, Alain warns Kirov that Ivan is after him, and Kirov reveals the truth about the supposed evidence. Ivan sends a large thug to kill them, and Kirov dies in the ensuing struggle. Alain escapes but is soon arrested by the NYPD.

The bank deposit box contains the Mafia's evidence and a second box in Alain's name, holding cash, a gun, and a recording from Mikhail explaining his plan to escape and reunite with his family. This evidence threatens both criminals and government figures involved with the case.

Escape and showdown in the bank

Alain instructs the banker to hand over the evidence to the US Embassy and triggers the sprinkler system to facilitate his escape. Ivan, accompanied by Sebastien as a hostage, sends in a big Russian; the thug kills the banker and seizes the evidence, but Alain catches him in the elevator and kills him.

Final chase, arrests, and reunion with his mother

Outside, police block Ivan's escape and Alain shoots out his tires, rescuing Sebastien. He then chases the corrupt FBI agents into a meat locker, killing them and securing Alex's safety as Mikhail's evidence leads to multiple arrests. In the closing moment, Alain takes Alex to meet his mother to finally tell her about Mikhail.
