Marilena from P7

In a Bucharest suburb, Andrei and his friends watch the prostitutes’ nightly shows from a rooftop. He immediately notices Marilena and feels a strong attraction, realizing he will need money to get close to her. The scene establishes a dangerous motive that drives the rest of the events.

Spurred by his crush, Andrei steals his father’s salary and heads toward the prostitutes’ meeting place with his friends. His father and another driver notice the theft and begin to follow, setting a tense pursuit. The act marks the start of a reckless scheme to reach Marilena.

Andrei and his companions arrive with Marilena and another prostitute at a nearby pub where Elvis Presley songs are performed, and Elvis Romano translates the lyrics. The prostitutes tease Andrei about needing a car to date them before they leave. Marilena writes her phone number on his hand, and Andrei later sends a dedication for 'Marilena from P7' to a local radio station.

Among her clients, Marilena falls in love with a man nicknamed Giani. The connection hints at a longing beyond the transactional world she inhabits and complicates her relationships with others around her.

One night Marilena spots Giani in his car in front of a store, accompanied by another woman, and the sight leaves her discouraged and worried about her future with him.

Andrei finds a way to obtain a car by planning to steal his father’s trolleybus. He completes the theft with his friends, while his father and another driver pursue them, escalating the stakes of their risky plan.

The boys reach the prostitutes’ meeting place but cannot find Marilena, fueling confusion and concern about where she is. The absence adds tension as they try to locate her in the same night.

Andrei recognizes Giani’s car parked in front of block P7 and enters Marilena’s apartment, where she and Giani are together. Marilena goes to the restroom, and Andrei sits in silence, observing the scene.

While still talking with Giani, Marilena suddenly cuts her jugular vein. Giani becomes frightened and flees the room, while the pimp notices him leaving and prepares to respond to the unfolding tragedy.

Andrei enters the room and looks down at Marilena’s bloodied body, absorbing the brutal reality of what has just happened. The pimp also witnesses the retreat of the fleeing figure as the scene sinks in.

News of Marilena’s suicide spreads quickly around the neighborhood, shocking residents and spreading a wave of gossip and concern about the consequences of the night’s events.
