Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence

A voodoo priest named Houngan performs a ritual to bring Matt Cordell back from the dead. Cordell takes Houngan's authority and even pockets the late man's badge to show his new purpose. The resurrection sets Cordell on a mission to do Houngan's bidding.

Two reporters witness a convenience store robbery while hoping for a big scoop. Officer Katie Sullivan intervenes and wounds the suspect, Frank Jessup, discovering the clerk is his girlfriend who lured him into the heist. In the crossfire, Katie fatally wounds the clerk in self-defense.

Katie is rushed to the hospital after the confrontation and placed on life support. Doctors declare her brain dead, marking the start of a long, anxious wait for her recovery or loss. Officer Sean McKinney begins his investigation into the case as it unfolds.

Cordell stalks Katie at the hospital, watching over her unconscious form from the corridors. He kills a heckler who shouts at him, signaling his ruthless resolve and imminent danger to those nearby.

In a brutal act, Cordell uses defibrillator paddles to kill one of Katie's supervising physicians. The assault demonstrates his otherworldly persistence and willingness to wield any tool as a weapon. The hospital staff are left reeling from the sudden, lethal attack.

Cordell turns his attack toward another physician and kills him with a blast of X-ray radiation. The hospital becomes a chamber of terror as the living world seems to blur with the dead. Katie's condition deteriorates further as the violence continues.

The two reporters who had framed Katie are slain by Cordell as he closes in on his target. Their deaths push the story toward a brutal, personal vendetta rather than a simple news report. The violence underscores Cordell's return and his willingness to punish those he sees as enemies.

Officer McKinney and Dr. Susan pursue the strange happenings around Katie and the murders. Their investigations point to Houngan, who admits reviving Cordell and hints at a lingering fixation on Katie.

At gunpoint, Cordell forces Houngan to attempt resurrecting Katie. He learns that Katie was Houngan's lover in life. The ritual fails as Katie's spirit resists returning, and Cordell kills Houngan; the two are then set on fire, with Katie immolated.

Cordell survives the blaze and chases Susan and McKinney in a battered police car as they escape in an ambulance. The attackers pursue relentlessly until Susan and McKinney fling an oxygen tank into the burning car, triggering a fiery explosion.

The charred remains of Katie are rolled into a morgue beside Cordell's burned corpse. The lone coroner tends to the bodies, preparing them for the ominous final moments of the story.

As the coroner works, Cordell's hand appears to move toward Katie's, and the screen cuts to black. The ending leaves their fates uncertain and hints at a lingering, supernatural connection between the two lovers.
