Mama's Boy

At 29 years old, Jeffrey Mannus lives a comfortable yet stagnant life with his mother, Jan, in the same house since childhood. Their bond is particularly strong following the death of Jeffrey's father, leaving him emotionally attached and reluctant to change their familiar routine.

Jan attends a motivational talk by Mert Rosenbloom, which captivates her with its charm and positivity. Enamored by Mert's charisma, she begins to pursue a romantic relationship with him, introducing disruption into her and Jeffrey's lives.

Feeling threatened by Mert's presence, Jeffrey perceives him as an intrusive figure in his life. Determined to protect his space, he vehemently opposes Jan's new relationship, escalating tensions within their household.

In search of solace, Jeffrey strikes up a friendship with Nora Flannagan, a barista and aspiring singer-songwriter. They connect through their shared cynicism about life, finding comfort in each other amidst their personal struggles.

Rushing against time, Jeffrey hurries to catch Nora's bus as she prepares to leave for college. He parks his car in the middle of the road and plays her favorite song on the radio, making a heartfelt attempt at reconciliation.
