Magical Maestro

Mysto the Magician interrupts the world-famous rehearsal and demands to perform the opening act that very night. He is driven by attention and revenge on Poochini, believing his tricks will steal the show. The moment sets the stage for the comedic conflict to come.

Realizing he can pass as the orchestra conductor, Mysto uses his wand as a baton to take charge of the performance. He freezes the real conductor, steals his tuxedo, nose, and wig, and slips into the conductor's seat to lead the orchestra. The audience is unaware of the impostor until the aria begins.

As Poochini performs Largo al factotum, Mysto unleashes a string of tricks from his wand, including summoning rabbits and flowers. He manipulates Poochini into removing his own pants and alters his appearance and style of singing. The onstage magic disrupts the aria and sets the tone for the prank.

Mysto continues changing Poochini's clothing several times, causing him to sing in different styles. A hair gag appears when a strand protrudes on the screen, prompting Poochini to pause and pluck it away before resuming the performance. The disguise adds to the confusion on stage.

An irate audience member in the balcony interferes with the performance three times, intensifying the chaos from the seats above. His interruptions set the stage for escalating comic mayhem that challenges Mysto's ruse. The onlookers become active participants in the spectacle.

The balcony interrupter throws fruit at Poochini, transforming him into a Carmen Miranda–style singer. The sudden change disrupts the aria and heightens the visual comedy of the scene. Mysto seizes the moment to press his advantage on stage.

The same spectator sprays black ink on Poochini's face with a fountain pen, causing him to sing tenor in the fashion of the Ink Spots. Mysto keeps up the deception with his wand, orchestrating a rapidly shifting stage of gags. The performance becomes a parade of comic vocal transformations.

The spectator drops an anvil on Poochini's head, crushing him to a shorter height and changing the vocals to a spoken bass line in a parody of Top & Bottom. The crowd reacts with surprised amusement as the chaos intensifies. Mysto's control over the scene teeters on collapse.

A rabbit washes the ink from Poochini's face with a fire hose, and another rabbit uses its paw like a car jack to restore him to full height. Mysto briefly reasserts control, then turns Poochini into a Hawaiian singer, heightening the absurd spectacle. The tricks oscillate between manipulation and play.

In the final bars, Mysto's borrowed wig falls off, exposing his disguise. Poochini seizes the wig and wand, then levitates Mysto onto the stage as Mysto tries to flee. The deception collapses as the real star confronts the impostor.

Poochini uses several of Mysto's own gimmicks against him in quick succession. The curtain falls to flatten Mysto and his rabbits, bringing the cartoon to a comedic close. The audience is left with a playful reversal of roles and a tidy ending to the prank.
