After uncovering the horrific truth that Dr. Whelton Bell and Tomas were involved in forcibly sterilizing and killing the babies of Hispanic women, Diana fights to save herself and her unborn child. She uses the spiritual connection to Teresa’s ghost, who had been her guardian guiding her through the ordeal, to distract Tomas. During the chaos, Diana pushes Tomas out of a glass door, leading to his accidental death. Meanwhile, Beto arrives just in time to stop Whelton from carrying out further harm and manages to stab the doctor. However, before they can escape, Tomas’s racist boss, Tomas, shows up and shoots Beto. It is then revealed that the real perpetrators behind the murders and sterilizations are Tomas and Whelton, who had conspired to exterminate the Hispanic community’s future through medical atrocities backed by racist motives. Their plan was to eliminate descendants of immigrant families, aiming to cleanse their “white country.” As Diana fights to survive, she manages to give birth safely to her son, Jose, symbolizing hope and resilience amid the horror. The ghost of Teresa, summoned by Diana’s lullaby, plays a crucial role in distracting Tomas and helping her turn the tide. The film concludes with the message that this brutal history of forced sterilizations — which resulted in over 64,000 victims in the U.S. — remains largely unpunished, echoing ongoing abuses of reproductive rights against marginalized communities. Even though Diana’s story ends with her and her child safe, the wider evil persists in other forms, highlighting the enduring scars of such inhumanity.
