Lulu on the Bridge

During a performance at a jazz club, Izzy Maurer is shot in the chest by a deranged man. He survives a seven-hour operation but loses his left lung, ending his music career.

Celia Burns, a waitress at Chez Pierre, learns about the shooting when she and her boss discuss the incident. She later buys Izzy's latest CD, drawing him into her orbit and sparking a connection.

Following his recovery, Izzy withdraws from friends and isolates himself. Gradually he starts venturing outside again and trying to adapt to his new life.

Hannah invites Izzy to a dinner attended by Catherine Moore and Philip Kleinman. For the first time in a long while he has a good time and feels a renewed sense of connection.

Walking home one night, Izzy discovers a dead body, Stanley Mar, and finds a bag nearby. Inside the bag is a small box containing a stone with a red mark, hinting at a mystery beyond the ordinary.

As Izzy examines the stone, it emits a strange blue light and seems to speak in another language. The next morning he dials the napkin's number, and Celia answers while listening to Izzy's CD.

Izzy and Celia arrange to meet; when they touch the stone together, the blue glow intensifies and they feel a powerful connection. They return to Celia's apartment, where their growing bond leads to intimacy.

Their relationship deepens and Celia helps Izzy get a job at her restaurant. A harassment incident erupts, and both Izzy and Celia are fired as a result, altering their plans and stability.

Celia is cast as Lulu in Catherine Moore's Pandorah's Box, aided by Izzy's connections. With the film ahead, Izzy plans to join Celia in Dublin where filming will take place.

Shortly after Celia heads to Dublin, Izzy is attacked in his apartment by men seeking information about Stanley Mar and is imprisoned. A mysterious Dr. Van Horn confronts him, probing his past and deducing Celia's whereabouts.

In Dublin, Celia becomes a target as Van Horn's team closes in. The rock's power returns as sorrow overwhelms her, and she drops it into the Ha'penny Bridge river to escape; Van Horn's men locate her and she jumps into the river to flee.

Izzy escapes prison and learns Celia's fate via a videotape shown by the producer. Later at a jazz club he is shot by a deranged man, and his heart stops en route to the hospital; Celia sees the ambulance pass and makes the sign of the cross.
