Hillary White, an architect, nourishes fantasies of being swept off her feet and saved by a white knight, which she writes about in her hidden journals. Frustrated by her inattentive boyfriend Craig, she retreats into these fantasies as a form of escape. She keeps the journals hidden in her office at Figueroa Plaza.

On a night when she leaves work with Craig, the two become trapped in the building's parking garage. Sam, a security guard obsessed with Hillary, has manipulated events to keep them isolated from the outside world. The trap heightens the sense that he controls their fate.
