Low Heights

Ghasem and his family, including his wife Narges and mother, board a flight to Bandar Abbas, Iran. They are filled with hope and excitement as Ghasem aims to secure a position with an industrial company, believing that this opportunity will improve their lives.

While the entire family is optimistic about their future, Narges, Ghasem's wife, harbors a secret knowledge. She is the only family member aware of Ghasem's true intentions regarding the flight, adding tension to the situation as they travel.

As the aircraft reaches cruising altitude, Ghasem takes a drastic action by pulling out a gun. He disarms the flight marshal and threatens the pilot, demanding the plane's course be diverted to Dubai, initiating a tense standoff.

Amidst the chaos of the hijacking, a second security guard, initially thought to be a passenger, sees an opening. He bravely wrests the weapon from Ghasem, momentarily shifting the balance of power on the plane.

In a clever twist, Narges orchestrates a plan to regain control from the security guard. She seizes the opportunity to snatch back the gun, allowing the hijackers to regain their footing and redirect the plane towards Dubai again.

As the hijacking continues, the plane's fuel reserves begin to dwindle dangerously low. Tensions escalate among the passengers and crew, creating a volatile situation for everyone on board as they head towards Dubai.

With fuel running out and control of the plane uncertain, the situation deteriorates rapidly. The aircraft ultimately loses power, leading to a disastrous crash into the sea, leaving the fate of all onboard hanging in the balance.

This tragic event is inspired by a real-life hijacking incident that occurred on December 13, 2000. Three members of a family attempted to hijack a domestic flight in Iran, reflecting the complexities surrounding such dire circumstances.

Unlike the fictional account, in the real incident, the flight crew managed to land the plane safely despite the hijacking efforts. Their quick thinking and professional responses prevented a severe disaster during the chaotic episode.

Following the hijacking attempt, the legal system responded with severe initial sentences for the perpetrators, including the death penalty and life imprisonment. However, these sentences were later reduced to long prison terms, highlighting the complexities of the law.
