A fierce hatred between two landowning families spreads to the surrounding land; anything crossing the river that divides them—people or animals—perishes. The story retells a Romeo‑and‑Juliet tragedy with intense, extreme actions from the protagonists, and its tone, atmosphere and pacing echo classic westerns.
