Dave is a dirty-talking, washed-up musician who just went through a painful breakup with Sara. He ends up staying with his sister Tess and her son Felix, a kid who loves tractors, space, and Darth Vader. The arrangement leaves him in a new, cramped home environment while he figures out what comes next.

While dropping Felix off at kindergarten, Dave crosses paths with Miss Audrey Caroline, Felix's teacher. There is instant chemistry as he struggles to hide his attraction. The encounter plants the seed for Dave's motive to stay close to the school and its teacher.

On the day of the field trip, zombies break out from a U.S. testing facility and head toward the farm, attacking the class.
