Leprechaun: Origins

Catherine and Francois flee a looming, unknown threat across a grassland toward a tall monolith. The pursuer closes in and drags Francois to a grim death, leaving him crushed by the shadowy force. As Catherine nears the monolith, the creature seizes her, suggesting a barrier she cannot pass.

Four American friends—Sophie, Ben, Jeni, and David—are dropped near the monolith by their driver, Ian. Sophie, a history major, spots the symbol carved on the stone and the group heads toward a local village bar. There they meet Hamish, who recounts the village’s mining past and the decline after the gold ran out.

That night, Jeni investigates a ruckus and discovers Hamish and Sean have locked them up. A figure enters through the fireplace and steals Jeni’s gold earring, while David is bitten during the struggle. The group flees to the village hall, seeking safety as Sophie debates the ancient myth of the leprechaun guarding gold.

Hamish and Sean join Ian outside the village, and Hamish admits to suspicions that Sean is growing disillusioned with the sacrificial scheme. Ian listens as the talk of danger thickens, foreshadowing the decisions that lie ahead.

The four are confronted by Hamish, who confirms that villagers sacrifice tourists each year to avoid sacrificing themselves. Sean, troubled by the brutal tradition, eventually lets them go, while Hamish discovers Ian impaled on farm equipment in a shed, heightening the sense that the community’s ritual will not end easily.

Mary, an elderly woman revealed to be Hamish’s accomplice, offers the party a chance to flee. The four are tied to trees as offerings for the leprechaun, and the monster arrives, ripping out Jeni’s tongue ring. David fights to keep the creature at bay, but the rope breaks and the struggle continues.

David is killed after being wounded while defending the others, and the trio hastily returns to the cottage to set a trap for the creature. The leprechaun’s presence intensifies, making a direct assault seem imminent as the group scrambles to survive.

The leprechaun tricks Sophie and Ben into striking Jeni with their axes, killing her. The group reels from the betrayal, realizing the creature’s cunning is as deadly as its strength.

Sophie and Ben attempt to flee in Hamish’s truck but find themselves cornered by the leprechaun inside the village hall. The creature grabs Ben and kills him by ripping out his spine, a brutal display of its predatory reach.

Sean, driven by guilt and wearied by the bloodshed, pushes Hamish into the cellar to halt the long history of sacrifices. The leprechaun tracks Hamish and kills him in the cellar, leaving Sean devastated but determined to protect Sophie.

Sophie escapes in Hamish’s truck but crashes while trying to outrun the leprechaun. She continues on foot, using cunning to lure the creature away and clinging to the hope of survival as she reclaims Francois’s knife from the prologue.

Sophie distracts the leprechaun with gold coins and uses Francois’s knife to kill it, breaking the immediate threat. She crosses the monolith to safety just as three leprechauns surge into the tall grass, signaling that the danger lingers but she has escaped for now.
