In a twist of fate, Grimble, a sage boreal owl, becomes their mentor, teaching the essential skills of flight and encouraging them to pursue the mythical Great Tree of Ga'Hoole. Tragically, Grimble meets his end at the hands of Queen Nyra, yet Soren and Gylfie manage to escape and quickly befriend two more owls, Digger and Twilight. This revelation sends shockwaves through the Guardians, and Allomere returns from a reconnaissance mission bearing disheartening news: two of his fellow fighters have been ambushed, along with two moon-blinked owlets, one of whom is Soren's younger sister, Eglantine. Her presence sets in motion a series of events that will indelibly shape their destinies.
As the Guardians prepare for an impending battle, they unknowingly fly into a trap masterminded by Nyra and her relentless minions.
