Samay lives with his mother, Baa, and father, Bapuji, in Chalala. Despite Bapuji's disapproval of films due to cultural beliefs, the family decides to take Samay to Amreli to watch a religious movie called 'Jai MahaKaali'.

At the movie screening in Amreli, Samay is awestruck by the magic of cinema, realizing the light on the canvas originates from the projection room. This fascination begins to ignite his passion for filmmaking.

While helping his father at the tea stall, Samay dreams of something bigger than his current life as a tea vendor. He wishes to break free from the limitations of his family's traditional values.

Samay spends his time experimenting with colored glasses, discovering how different hues can transform the world around him. This visual experimentation feeds his artistic inclinations.

Samay begins to skip classes at school to fulfill his newfound passion for cinema, secretly watching movies in Amreli. This reckless behavior worries his parents, especially after he misses the return train home.

After being thrown out of the cinema for sneaking in, Samay meets Fazal, a projectionist. They bond over Samay's love for movies, and Fazal eventually introduces him to the projection room, deepening his passion.

Samay makes a deal with Fazal to exchange Baa's delicious home-cooked meals for free movie screenings. This arrangement allows him to watch films regularly from the projection booth, expanding his cinematic knowledge.

Using scrap materials and sunlight, Samay builds a makeshift projector at an abandoned railway station. This demonstrates his ingenuity and growing skills in storytelling and filmmaking.

Samay and his friends steal film reels from the railway station, causing chaos as cinemas across the region receive incomplete films. This act of mischief leads to unrest in the local community.

After the theft is traced back to Chalala, the boys are caught and taken into custody by the police. This harrowing experience teaches Samay the serious implications of his actions.

Bapuji discovers Samay's talent when he sees the projector constructed by his son and friends. He acknowledges Samay's skills and understands the need for supportive action to help his son pursue his dreams.

Fazal is let go from his job due to the transition from analog to digital projectors, highlighting the technological changes in the film industry. This affects Samay as he loses a mentor and source of inspiration.
