Kummeli Kultakuume

Set in 1984, Elmeri Hautamäki Heikki Silvennoinen has spent his entire life inside a mental institution. He escapes with his nurse Janne-Petteri Broman Heikki Hela, and the unlikely pair is soon joined by the Kaakelberg twins, Jönssi Heikki Vihinen and Dille Timo Kahilainen, as they embark on a quest to locate the hidden gold treasure of his father Kyrpä-Jooseppi Hautamäki, who was killed by a deserting German Waffen-SS soldier Peter North Jukka Puotila in 1944 in Lapland. Their escape triggers pursuit not only by the Mental Institute’s doctors Rasinkangas Mari Turunen and Kulokoski Kari Hietalahti, but also by the police.

Reaching Elmeri’s father’s site, they fail to extract a meaningful amount of gold from the river. In the dead of night Jönssi discovers a buried German motorbike and the bodies of two dead SS troopers, revealing that the motorbike’s sidecar hides a chest full of Third Reich gold.

Later, a police pursuit leads them to the grounds of gay baron Eugen von Lahtinen Vesa-Matti Loiri during a poetry-themed spring celebration. The group seeks to exchange the gold with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge Oiva Lohtander, who turns out to work for a secret Nazi organization. Through this contact Peter North Jukka Puotila learns that Elmeri has found the gold and returns to Finland.

When Hautamäki goes back to exchange the rest of the gold for cash, he ends up in a close-quarters fight with North. He wins the confrontation by asking North for a cigarette.

Ultimately, the gold is shared among the group: Broman marries Baron von Lahtinen, becoming the mistress of his estate; Jönssi becomes the owner of the food-processing plant from which he and his brother were fired at the film’s opening; Dille becomes a professor at the University of Tampere; Elmeri marries a call girl named Vanessa and fathers many children. He even takes Peter North’s name to stay out of the mental asylum, while Peter North ends up confined in a mental institution under Hautamäki’s name for the rest of his life.
