Kirikou and the Sorceress

In a quaint West African village, a remarkable boy named Kirikou is born. He surprises everyone by speaking before he is even born and walking the moment he enters the world, showcasing his extraordinary abilities.

Kirikou learns about the malevolent sorceress, Karaba, who has caused great suffering in the village. She has dried up their spring and devoured all the village's men except for Kirikou's one remaining warrior uncle.

Taking charge, Kirikou decides to confront the sorceress. He joins his uncle in a bold mission, showing extraordinary courage at such a young age.

Using his cleverness, Kirikou devises a plan to trick Karaba. He hides in his uncle's hat, leading her to believe it possesses magical powers, and successfully rescues his uncle.

Kirikou bravely saves the village’s children from being captured. He confronts Karaba's monstrous creations, including a giant tree and a boat, showcasing his ingenuity and bravery.

Kirikou faces the creature responsible for draining their village's water source. His cleverness and determination allow him to defeat it, earning the villagers' trust and admiration.

With guidance from his mother and assistance from various animals, Kirikou embarks on a journey to a forbidden mountain. He seeks wisdom from his grandfather regarding the sorceress’s cruelty.

Kirikou's grandfather reveals a shocking truth about Karaba. A poisoned thorn lodged in her back is the source of her pain and the reason behind her malevolence.

With the knowledge gained, Kirikou devises a clever plan. He retrieves Karaba's stolen gold to use as bait, intending to set a trap for her.

Kirikou manages to extract the thorn from Karaba’s back, alleviating her suffering. This act not only earns him gratitude but also magically transforms him into an adult.

Kirikou returns to the village accompanied by a now-cured Karaba. Though initially skeptical, the villagers begin to reconsider upon witnessing the change in her.

The arrival of a procession of drummers led by Kirikou's grandfather marks a significant turning point. The drummers reveal themselves to be the villagers' men who were previously turned into watchmen by Karaba.

Kirikou's bravery and cleverness lead to a remarkable transformation in the village. With the men restored and Karaba no longer a threat, peace and joy return to the community.
