Jim, Ginger, and Dixie leave a haunted house and discover an online auction selling the mysterious black box. Intrigued, they decide to buy it for fun. Jim wins the auction, and they receive the box, which contains a locket with a girl’s picture inside.

Robert, seen at a train depot, argues with someone named Amy on the phone before suffering a violent coughing fit and being thrown against the wall by an unseen force. He declares, 'The matter is closed,' before being left alone on the floor, indicating a supernatural attack.

Jim and Dixie find their beds and belongings vandalized and overturned, with strange writing scratched into the wall. Ginger finds a single red rose on her bed, hinting at supernatural influence. The atmosphere becomes increasingly menacing as signs of a haunting escalate.

Professor Haskell, working late, is attacked by an unseen entity in her office, resulting in her spitting up blood and biting off her own tongue. Her death is attributed to supernatural forces linked to the box and the cursed entity.

Jim finds an inscription on the wall in Gaelic and learns about Katie Malone, an Irish servant girl beaten to death and whose spirit is bound to the cursed box. The legend explains that her spirit seeks to claim a ‘family or death,’ linking her to the ongoing haunting.

Jim, Ginger, and Dixie decide to set Katie’s spirit free by trying to release her from the box. Jim places his hand on the box, feels pain, and throws it into a trashcan, believing he has dispelled her influence, but the curse seems to persist.

Jim communicates with Ghost_Hunter, the other auction bidder, who warns him of danger. Jim sets up an auction on uBid to sell the box, which results in supernatural chaos during the college Halloween party, with students thrown and ice spreading across the floors.

Dixie and Ginger hide in a maintenance room as the ghost unleashes supernatural attacks, including ice and violent manifestations. Dixie’s hand is frozen to a metal railing, and Ginger narrowly escapes after seeing Dixie vanish, highlighting the spreading chaos.

Ginger is dragged towards a dangerous object, but Jim intervenes, claiming he sold the ghost back. Katie screams and shatters windows, symbolizing her release. The spirits are unraveled as the chaos subsides, but the curse appears to still threaten.

In the final scene, it is revealed that Amy, the girl from the beginning, is Robert’s daughter, and she is the girl who had possession over the box. She confronts Robert, trying to prevent Katie’s spirit from harming anyone, but the box slips from his hand and opens, leaving her determined to protect her home.
