A remote village in Pali is struck by a mysterious plague that claims many lives, leaving the community terrified and devastated. The village head prophesies a savior and sends his assistant, Siddha, in pursuit of him.

In Hyderabad, a taxi driver named Raju endures a brutal ordeal when his taxi is badly damaged and his passengers are attacked and murdered. Following the incident, his supervisor orders him to deliver the insurance money to one of the victims’ families in Rajasthan. While there, a gang of goons sent by Gopala "G.K." Krishnan, a ruthless industrialist, ambush Raju and mortally wound him. After he fends off his attackers, Siddha locates him under the shadow of the head’s prophecy and brings him back to the village.

Back in the village, Raju is stunned to learn that the locals revere him as a deity, even though he struggles to convince them otherwise. Though initially indifferent to their troubles, he is urged by Siddha to help. Through further inquiry, he uncovers GK’s deliberate pollution of the village’s air and water to drive residents away and to clear the land for ore extraction. He also discovers that GK had ordered the hits on Raju’s passengers—a geologist and a villager—and later targeted Raju himself to prevent interference.

GK confronts Raju in the village, kills Siddha, and threatens to massacre the villagers for uncovering his ploy. Enraged, Raju fights GK’s goons and even amputates GK’s hand. GK flees in panic and meets his death as prophesized, bringing the village’s calamity to an end.

Q1

Why did the villagers of Pali believe Raju was a deity?

The village head had prophesied that a divine avatar would descend to save Pali from the plague. When Siddha brought the mortally wounded Raju to the village under the shadow of this prophecy, the timing and circumstances led the villagers to interpret his arrival as the fulfillment of that prophecy. Raju initially struggled to convince them otherwise, but their desperate situation and faith in the prophecy made them revere him as their savior.

Q2

How did GK's pollution cause the plague in Pali?

GK (Gopala Krishnan), a ruthless industrialist, deliberately polluted the village's air and water supply to drive residents away from their land. This environmental contamination is what triggered the mysterious disease that devastated Pali. By poisoning the village's natural resources, GK intended to force the inhabitants to leave so he could extract valuable ores from the land without resistance.

Q3

Why did GK order attacks on Raju's passengers?

GK targeted Raju's passengers, a geologist and a villager, because they possessed knowledge that could expose his illegal ore extraction scheme. The geologist likely discovered evidence of mineral deposits on the village land, while the villager may have been aware of GK's pollution operation. By eliminating them, GK hoped to silence anyone who might interfere with his plans to clear the village for mining.

Why did GK also order the attack on Raju himself?

After GK's goons killed Raju's passengers, Raju became a liability because he had witnessed the attacks and was delivering insurance money to the victims' families. GK feared Raju might investigate the murders or talk to authorities, potentially linking the deaths to his pollution scheme. So GK ordered Raju's elimination to prevent any investigation that could expose his criminal operations.

Siddha sacrificed himself during GK's confrontation with Raju because he believed wholeheartedly that Raju was the prophesied savior who would save the village. His faith in the prophecy and his commitment to fulfilling the village head's quest drove him to protect Raju at all costs. By giving his life, Siddha ensured Raju would be free to fight GK and fulfill his destiny as the village's deliverer.

Q6

What was GK's main motive for targeting the village?

GK's primary motive was economic gain. He wanted to extract valuable ores from the land beneath Pali village. By polluting the air and water to force residents to relocate, GK could acquire the land without resistance and proceed with his mining operations unimpeded. Though not actually a deity, Raju fulfilled the prophecy by confronting GK, exposing his pollution scheme, fighting his goons, and causing GK to flee in panic where he met his death as foretold.
