Journey to Promethea

The film opens with a somber narration about the Samillian Tribe, once noble and now subjugated by King Laypach, condemned to wander the wilderness. Laypach's tyranny tightens its grip as the people cling to memories of better days. The stage is set for a rebellion born from loss, faith, and the dream of a homeland.

Draden, the Samillians' mightiest warrior and holy leader, rallies his people against Laypach's regime. He slays more than a thousand of Laypach's men, turning fear into hope. The rebellion gains sacred purpose under Draden's leadership.

After a brutal twenty-three-year struggle, Draden is captured and beheaded. Before his execution, he prophesies that his spirit will descend upon a Samillian liberator who will lead them to Promethea. The prophecy becomes the driving legend of the Samillians' quest.

Eight years pass, and Grado Amurilus's son Magnus lives as a farmer with his two boys, Magnus and Binon, moving with the remaining Samillians. Their life feels peaceful despite oppression that has lasted generations. Laypach's wise men declare that the chosen liberator has begun to mature and warn the king not to let him unite with Aria or claim Draden's sword.

The wise men report that the chosen liberator is emerging, guided by Draden's sword and the light in his eyes. They warn Laypach not to let the boy join Aria or wield the ancestral blade. Laypach orders the search for the boy to begin immediately.

Grado dies after a mortal wound, urging Magnus to free their people. Cremating his father, Magnus encounters a mysterious magical chicken who reveals itself as Gydro, the unlikely guide of prophecy, and Magnus's eyes glow with the light of Draden. Gydro falls to his knees, stunned and elated that he has found the liberator.

Magnus embarks on a period of fasting and moon-god prayers as Laypach's wise men report Magnus's whereabouts. Laypach summons his greatest warrior, Kronin, to track the elusive boy. In the forest, Magnus meets a hunter named Ari and explains his mission; the two decide to press on together.

Binon is brought before Laypach and the wise men; they declare he is not the chosen one and he is imprisoned in the dungeons. A deformed prisoner named Arden taunts him, and flashbacks reveal Arden's past as a man who refused to murder an innocent wife, a deed tied to Ari's history.

Gydro visits Draden's daughter Aria and confirms Magnus's identity as the Samillian liberator. Aria gathers her four warrior handmaidens and sets out to find him, while Magnus and Ari share a meal with two mysterious women who show glimpses of supernatural power.

Back in Laypach's realm, the wise men are beheaded for their failures as Kronin's hunt intensifies. Ari trains Magnus in combat while the pursuit pushes deeper into the forest, and Aria's group faces a violent ambush that costs the life of Derja. They perform an ancient funeral rite as Gydro conducts a somber ceremony.

A blind fortune teller reappears, prophesying Kronin's fate as 'to kill and be killed' and reinforcing the sense of destiny. Kronin returns to Laypach in shame, unable to pin Magnus down. Meanwhile Sina—a handmaid to Aria—struggles with jealousy that threatens the group's unity.

Sina's exhaustion leads to a betrayal of the group, complicating their fragile alliance. Arden's curses ripple through the cells as Laypach's grip on power tightens. Kronin accelerates his march toward Magnus, closing the final gap before Groboda.

Magnus and Aria's groups converge at the Stone of Groboda just as Kronin and Laypach's soldiers reach the area, with Binon in chains. A fierce battle erupts; Ari falls with visions of his wife, and Aria fights with fierce resolve as Derja has already fallen. The Stone becomes a stage for the turning of destiny.

Magnus defeats Kronin with Draden's sword and pierces the Stone of Groboda, triggering a massive bolt of light that blasts Laypach's distant throne room to dust. Arden's deformities melt away as Laypach's power collapses, and Promethea appears beyond the woods as freedom's beacon. Magnus and Aria share a quiet kiss, while Binon jokes about starting a karate school to celebrate.
