The story centers on two men, Dara, Sunny Deol and Karan, Anil Kapoor, each scarred by a brutal past. Karan grew up under the shadow of a terrible murder—the killing of his own family by Jogi Thakur, and Dara carries a deep wound from childhood: he was torn away from his kin near a traveling circus, where he was ultimately cared for by the circus manager, Satyendra Kapoor. In the same thread of fate, two powerful figures earlier wronged them in different ways: Raja Singh, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Jogi Thakur, Rajesh Vivek. After a daring robbery, Raja Singh betrays Jogi Thakur during a police chase; Jogi Thakur is arrested and given twenty years, while Raja Singh uses his windfall to rise as a feared local tyrant.

Twenty years slip by, and the landscape has shifted. Raja Singh has transformed into Raja Sahib, ruling over many villages with a stern grip, while Dara searches for answers and Karan for vengeance. Dara is the more outgoing, bold, and witty presence, whereas Karan is quiet, brooding, and consumed by anger. Jogi Thakur is released from prison, nursing a thirst for revenge against Raja Sahib.
