Baroness Teri von Horhenfels, bored with her dull marriage, runs into her husband and her lover Paul at an exclusive jewel shop. The husband is there to buy her an extravagant 28-carat diamond ring. The shop becomes the stage for a charged mix of romance, boredom, and danger.

A suave jewel thief and his gang crash the scene. He locks Teri’s husband and Paul in the vault and forces shop owner Hollander to smoke a marijuana-laced cigarette, dulling everyone's wits. Teri is drawn to the thief’s daring charm even as he pockets her ring.

Teri persuades the thief to leave her free, but he takes her ring. The group misdirects the police, and the shop robbery is buried under distractions. The encounter plants the seeds of a dangerous, alluring liaison between Teri and the thief.
