During the London Blitz of 1940, eight children find themselves trapped in the cellar of their orphanage due to falling bombs. To distract them from the danger, their teacher, Miss Shaw, begins to read a story. As the narrative progresses, the children are mysteriously transported to a fantastical island, where they become immersed in a timeless myth about the struggle between Darkness and Light.
