In a leading Indian advertising agency, the race for the top job becomes a high-stakes showdown between Rahul Verma, a revered CEO, and Maya Luthra, his ambitious protégé who is married with a child and has filed a sexual harassment complaint against him. A committee headed by Mrs. Kamdhar is tasked with hearing both sides, wading through layers of claims to uncover the truth and determine who is telling the truth and who is not. The stakes are immense: only one of them can walk away with a flawless reputation and the coveted position at the top.

Kamdhar conducts separate interviews with Maya and Rahul. Maya recounts a history where the two were friends before she left for New York and later returned to join the Mumbai office. She notes the Goa award ceremony where Rahul’s hard work helped win an award, but she accepted the trophy herself and did not acknowledge Rahul, which contributed to the perception that her promotion was tied to their past relationship. The first hint of harassment, she claims, occurred when Rahul tried to get closer to her in Goa.

Rahul pushes back by drawing a line between flirting and harassment. He says he discovered Maya’s talents years ago at the same ad award festival, took her under his wing, and helped her rise. He contends that Maya benefited from their relationship as much as he did.

One staff member recalls a six-year-old incident in Thailand: Maya allegedly slept with Rahul after he advanced on her; she was in love at the time and even introduced him to her family. Rahul, however, moved on to other conquests, and Maya demanded a transfer, which he refused. She eventually secured the transfer and later returned to Goa, where she was promoted to the board and national creative director for India, a move made without Rahul’s input. At one point Rahul even advised Maya not to take the new post, implying he recognized the brewing conflict.

Kamdhar’s interviews reveal a growing distance between Rahul and Maya after the promotion. Staff describe Maya taking on a tougher attitude, firing some employees who had previously worked for Rahul, while Rahul appears to target clients and accounts overseen by Maya. The tension becomes personal as both wait for the other to compromise, but the atmosphere only deteriorates.

As part of the promotion, Maya was given ownership of two major accounts Rahul had been handling. Rahul dodges handing over the accounts, and makes offhand comments about inviting Maya to his house for a handover. At that meeting, according to Maya, the campaign is not ready for the presentation the next day. She fears losing her job, while Rahul claims he did not sabotage her work and accuses Maya of threatening him to lose the account. The owners pressure Maya to salvage the situation, pushing her to “make it work” with Rahul.

The conflict intensifies when a pitched idea Maya steals from Rahul is presented to a client. Later that night, during a party at Maya’s home, both sides accuse the other of inappropriate behavior: Maya alleges Rahul attempted to force himself on her, while Rahul contends she attacked him and he was merely defending himself. Maya also says she sought to file a harassment complaint, citing discouragement from her boyfriend and the agency owners.

Rahul maintains that Maya filed the complaint to oust him and claim the CEO position. With the agency under scrutiny, the owners consider legal strategies to discredit Maya.

In a tense moment, Maya confesses to a desperate act in which she slept with John, a partner considering investing in the agency, to protect her career. Rahul says he loved her and blames the owners for driving a wedge between them. He is furious that outside forces shaped the situation. The next day, Rahul quits the agency and leaves for an unknown destination; Maya exits as well, leaving behind a complex, unresolved future for the firm.
