Lana arrives at Kate's Brooklyn apartment, pulling a wheeled suitcase behind her. With Kate's boyfriend Geoff no longer in the picture, she decides to convert her old office into a bedroom for her new roommate, Lana.

As Kate and Lana meet, they humorously interrogate each other about whether they are serial killers, establishing a quirky understanding needed for their cohabitation. Despite Kate's cynical outlook, she welcomes Lana into her home.

Lana begins her search for employment, attending job interviews for waitress positions. She meets Natasha, a confident woman who suggests they have fun together, prompting a new social adventure for Lana.

Dressing provocatively, Lana heads out to meet Natasha but finds the venue inappropriate for their casual outing. After a bizarre night that includes kissing a bouncer, she stumbles home as the sun rises.

With a newfound job, Lana motivates Kate to repair her broken camera and revisit photography. However, Kate hesitates and considers returning to her old, joyless finance job instead.

As Kate rekindles her romance with Geoff, Lana develops feelings for Massi, their charming upstairs neighbor. This creates a complex dynamic as Lana remains considerate of Kate’s feelings while grappling with her own.

Lana proposes that she maintain a sexual relationship with Geoff to keep him from pursuing other women until Kate is ready. This arrangement leads to chaos during a group gathering and tests the bonds between the three.
