Ice Spiders

In a restricted lab on a Utah mountain, Dr. April Sommers and a team of scientists work on a new breed of spider. They push biology toward larger, faster, and stronger specimens, hinting at armor-related applications. The work is dangerous and doorways to unintended consequences begin to open.

A new teen, Chad, arrives at the ski resort and openly challenges Dash to a race. Dash declines, choosing caution to avoid re-injuring a career-damaging leg. The encounter foreshadows tension between the veteran skier and the newer arrivals.

After finishing the race, Dash reaches the bottom where he meets Dr. Sommers and they talk briefly. Frank then takes the teens inside the resort, pulling them away from the mounting tension. The moment shifts the focus from sport to the unfolding crisis.

Dr. Sommers returns to the lab to find dead scientists everywhere. The sole survivor is cocooned in a spider web and warns that the spiders are escaping before dying. His warning confirms that the project has spiraled out of control.

Inside the lab, the last mutated black widow attacks and forces Sommers into a locked office. She sounds an alarm that reaches Professor Marks and Army Captain Baker elsewhere on the mountain. The alert triggers the early phase of the containment effort.

Back at the lodge, Ranger Rick and Dash set out to find two missing hunters. They locate the hunters' truck and a mutilated elk, hinting at a dangerous predator. They discover one hunter's body and, further on, the other cocooned in a web, with Rick snared by a spider and killed.

When they return to the lab, Professor Marks, Captain Baker, and a squad of soldiers confront Dr. Sommers. She warns them of the danger as a spider attacks and kills a soldier. Sommers steals records showing Marks accelerated the spiders’ growth, then drives back toward the lodge.

Back at the lodge, Sommers meets Frank and Johnny as a man cries for help. Spiders kill several guests, including the teens’ ski coach, while chaos erupts in the parking lot. Frank helps the teens hide in a shed and seek a way to escape via a bus.

Chad grabs the keys and drives off, but a black widow on the bus roof crawls to the windshield, causing Chad to crash the bus into a snow bank. The survivors scramble for safety as the danger closes in. The children are forced to improvise an escape plan.

Dash returns to the hotel and helps secure it as the spiders press their attack. In the basement, a spider slips in and nearly strikes them, but they stun it with a fire extinguisher and lock it away. The rescue effort buys time for a broader plan.

A spider climbs through the lodge chimney and kills two guests, heightening the panic. Dash retaliates by impaling the creature with the antlers of a mounted deer head. The assault demonstrates the spiders’ reach and threat to everyone inside.

On the crashed bus, Frank ensures the kids are safe, with one passenger unconscious from injuries. The group scrambles for escape as the black widow probes the vehicle. Captain Baker and his squad arrive just in time to provide rescue.

Dash devises a plan with Captain Baker to trap the spiders by luring them toward a snowboard half-pipe. Johnny heads to an avalanche cannon and waits for Dash’s signal to unleash the trap. The team prepares a decisive strike to end the threat.

At the half-pipe, the spiders are captured and detonated by Johnny’s signal. Professor Marks, who opposed killing the spiders, charges Dash and falls to the last spider, which kills him as Baker shoots the beast. The government intervention follows soon after.

A government agent arrives with a squad to destroy all traces of the spiders. He tells the survivors to stay quiet and explains that the official line will be a spill of hallucinogenic chemicals. The truth is buried to protect sensitive corporate and military interests.
